We are holding an information evening at Montague Park School on the 19th September 17:30 – 18:30.
We are looking to open a new Beaver section, and Group so please come along if you are interested in helping or you have a child aged 6.
There will be an activity for the youngsters running during this slot.

Thursday saw the District Annual review at the Waterside Centre, where around 35 people listened to the new Town Mayor provide her first official speech in the role.
It was a night for introductions as Lorraine Bolam – the new District Commissioner welcomed Alison Sutton and Nick Green to their roles as Deputy DC’s strengthening the District team.

Wokingham District is preparing to celebrate 100 years of cub scouts in 2016, the cubs officially started on 16th December 1916 and thus we will be holding a “Promise Party” on the Friday 16th December 2016.   Cubs from around the country will renew their promise at 7.16 pm (19:16) on the 16th, Cubs in Wokingham are invited to do this all together at one BIG PARTY.   However the Promise Party is actually the last of the events we have planned.

Cubs from across the District met up on Saturday to battle it out to be named District Chess Champion.
4 Groups entered players to the competition held at 1st Finchampstead Scout HQ. In between matches the Cubs took part in other activities to break up the day.
James, from 1st Wokingham Cub pack was crowned Champion and received his certificate from Nancy Savage the District Cub Leader.
Well done James and everyone one else for taking part.

Members of 3rd Wokingham Scouts supported the Civic Service the other weekend.
The service was held at St Paul’s Church on London Road and following a short parade ended at the Town Hall.

Taking place from 2-8 June 2014, Scout Community Week gives us the opportunity to demonstrate the benefits and impact Scouting has on individuals and the social return to communities.
Over the past two years we have seen an outstanding number of Groups sign up to ‘Do1Thing’, resulting in great projects going on simultaneously around the UK and a burst of media coverage.
By teaming up with B&Q, Groups have benefited from the resources and support offered by their local store. Whether it is fundraising in-store or help with skills and tools, B&Q …

On a warm September day the District Cubs met up for their annual Quidditch match. Based on the idea from Harry Potter with modifications for the flying brooms…
This annual event has become one of the most popular in the Cub year, due to the chance to get everyone wet.
This year saw 1st Finch Badgers walk away with the Goblet of Fire and the Silver Cup went to 4th Wokingham.

Gilwell 24 2012 has been announced and will take place from Friday 6th July until Sunday 8th July 2012.
The core Gilwell 24 event is a 24 hour long day of activity and challenge running from 09:00 on Saturday straight through until 09:00 Sunday.  In addition we will be hosting the warm up on Friday night with one of the stages and fairground open to welcome those staying overnight in preparation.

As hopefully some will have heard we are holding a District Olympics.
The event will take place on the Sunday 13th May and involve all sections in a day of fun and activities.
Whilst the event is replacing our St George’s Parade for 2012, we will still renew promises and hand out awards.
